“One Team”


As we wrap up this week's Save the Team fundraiser we're nothing less than blown away by the tremendous support of our Alumni and Friends. Going into this week, our savings account had been depleted to little more than $600. Severe funding cuts from the University and only a month-long fall season due to COVID meant that we didn't even have the means to pay our coaches. Spring Update


This spring season was a short one for UC Rowing. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, our season was cancelled causing us to cancel our spring break trip to Louisiana. While this is disheartening, there is still good news to be heard. The team hosted our annual erg-a-thon fundraiser, where the team gets together and rows a marathon or half marathon, either alone or in a team. Through that fundraiser, we raised around $4,500. End of Season Update


This fall season was full of hard work and racing. The Bearcats traveled to Pittsburgh, Columbus, Boston, and Chattanooga this fall season to compete in a multitude of races. Before racing started, we went to East Fork State Park for a short camping trip. While there each squad performed a short skit, the full team went for a mile hike, and we cooked hot dogs, hobo meals, and s'mores over a fire. A Tradition of Excellence


In the fall of 1981 eager students with the help of Cincinnati area rowers William Engeman and Harry H. Graves founded the University of Cincinnati Rowing Team. Initially the team was an entity within the Cincinnati Rowing Foundation, an umbrella organization that encompassed Cincinnati Rowing Club, Outdoor Co-operative (Cincinnati Junior RC) and Xavier University and the Cincinnati Training Center. Founding members Tom Ritter, Steven Baker and Tom Stork took on the great task of developing the structure for both men’s and women’s rowing representing the university, although they commuted to Lake Harsha to train the team had early success at the Dad Vail regatta where medals were earned in the first few years.
