Nathan Damas Shatters Record Board

Let it be known that the Bearcats are fierce and full of fight. With competition always around the corner, UCRC takes training seriously. Every year, our main focus is to improve technique, become stronger, and drop our splits. When it's time to compete in a regatta, there are no breaks between meters. Once the clock starts, you don't stop until you hear the whistle and cross the last buoy. Unlike other sports, rowing requires cardiovascular endurance and strength throughout the entire event....

Bearcat Summer

Every summer, the team finishes the season strong at ACRA, then they store the boats until the fall semester starts.  While the Bearcats look forward to the summer for relaxation in the sun, they inevitably miss the adrenaline rush of rowing. Join the Team

UCRC is currently on summer break. The team heads back to the water during the first few weeks of the Fall semester and we hope to see you! Most of our athletes joined with no previous experience, so accept the challenge of trying something new and maybe you'll love it as much as we do. We recruit coxswains, who are loud, proud, guides of the larger boats that display leadership. Rowers are strong and disciplined athletes who propel the boat while feeling the adrenaline rush of a regatta. You can become a rower or coxswain by meeting us at one of our fall recruiting events, filling out the website's recruiting form, or by reaching out to our recruiting chair, Connor Klein, at recruiting@cincyrowing.org. Remember, we'll teach you the basics, so no experience is necessary!

Initially the team was an entity within the Cincinnati Rowing Foundation, an umbrella organization that encompassed Cincinnati Rowing Club, Outdoor Co-operative (Cincinnati Junior RC) and Xavier University and the Cincinnati Training Center. Founding members Tom Ritter, Steven Baker and Tom Stork took on the great task of developing the structure for both men’s and women’s rowing representing the university, although they commuted to Lake Harsha to train the team had early success at the Dad Vail regatta where medals were earned in the first few years. The Bearcats also began competing within two leagues the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association and Midwest Sprints...
