UCRC Medals at Head of the Hooch 2022

Our Fall regatta season came to a close at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, TN. This prestigious regatta presented us with the fiercest competition yet and the opportunity to see how we stacked up against boats from clubs all across the country. A few months ago, local Cincinnati photographer Chris Von Holle joined the University of Cincinnati Rowing Club (UCRC) at our morning practice. This past weekend, the University of Cincinnati Rowing Club (UCRC) attended the Jack Speakmon Memorial Regatta in Columbus, Ohio. The weather gods blessed us with great racing weather for the day (a pleasant change compared to our first Fall regatta). Earlier this month, the team traveled to Pittsburgh, PA for our first regatta of the Fall season — the Head of the Ohio. Our team spent a day in drizzle and downpour racing on the 2.6-mile course down the Allegheny River. Our team raced in 5 different events throughout the day and medaled in 3 of those races. After two weeks of learn to rows, UCRC is glad to welcome new novices to the team! They have gone from learning legs, body, arms on the erg to rowing a few strokes by all eight, not to mention rowing across the Ohio River at this Saturday's practice. In just a few days, their skills have greatly improved.
