Ringing in the New Year
Ringing in the New Year
January 16, 2017
At UC Rowing, the start of the New Year brings about a renewed focus on winter training and recruitment. All three squads are back spending lots of time at the Cincinnati Rowing Center. The winter session is a time for the athletes to focus on strength training and increase speed for when the team can transition to the water at Clemson University during spring break. The coaching staff has formulated a plan of attack combining running, weight lifting, and lots of erging, with the intention of getting every rower into peak physical condition. Attracting new rowers to the club is always a priority so that UC Rowing can continue for many years to come. 2017 started with UC Rowing canvassing the campus with fliers and manning an information table at the CRC. Over 80 students expressed interest in the club. The club then hosted an open house at the Boat House with a Learn-to-Row event. Students who attended the event received a tour of our indoor training facility along with a crash course on the basics of rowing. We look forward to welcoming many of these new rowers to the team and hope to host similar events in the future.
