Spring Update

March 23, 2020

This spring season was a short one for UC Rowing. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, our season was cancelled causing us to cancel our spring break trip to Louisiana. While this is disheartening, there is still good news to be heard.

The team hosted our annual erg-a-thon fundraiser, where the team gets together and rows a marathon or half marathon, either alone or in a team. Through that fundraiser, we raised around $4,500.

Over the course of winter training, we traveled to Columbus to take part in the Midwest Championship Erg Sprints. While there, the novice men and women put up PRs all around, and even earned a couple of medals. One of the spring season recruits, Claire Ratcliff, won the lightweight novice women category. On the men’s side, Tim Sieverding won gold, and Conner Klein won bronze. The varsity women had many PRs as well.

The team also hosted our alumni event at Rhinegeist Brewery on February 29th, where the board mingled with the alumni and Director Pete Rosberg spoke on his visions for the future. While racing is cancelled this season, the team still has the ability to practice, so we are looking forward to hopefully still getting some meters in throughout these difficult times.

Due to COVID-19, all races and events have been cancelled for the season, including our end of the year banquet. There are a few seniors graduating from UC this semester, so we are sending them their 4-year rower awards, along with recognizing them on our Instagram page, @cincyrowing. These seniors are: Megan Urbanic, Annalise Billings, and Sam Kelly
